Scarborough
Spa Bridge
Pictured below is a postcard sent on the 8th September 1908. The postcard shows, what was, the entrance to Scarborough Spa. This postcard is one of my favourites. It shows Scarborough on a summer day in its heyday with a mass of entertainments being enjoyed by a large throng of Edwardian tourists. The postcard itself is a superb piece of printing. It is one of the (then common) real photograph cards. Printed by local company Dennis & Holloway Heraldic Stationers it show Scarborough as 'The Queen of Watering Places'. Compare this with the more modern view below. |
